Gelila Asnake

founder & CEO

Gelila has over 10 years of talent acquisition experience, having worked at various startups (series B to IPO) and in venture capital, specializing in building technical engineering teams. In 2023, she founded the Journey with a mission to inspire, equip, and launch the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Gelila began her career as an early employee at Coursera, where she launched their University program. She then transitioned to lead the early career recruiting team at Quora. Gelila's passion for startup recruiting led her to join Human Capital in San Francisco, where she partnered with various founders at portfolio companies across seed and growth stages, helping them build world-class engineering teams. Her clients included Anduril, Observe, and Kojo.

Gelila holds a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and completed her secondary education at the prestigious Lycée Guebre Mariam in Ethiopia. She currently resides in San Jose with her family.

Sreedhar started his career at a growth stage startup after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University with a Masters specializing in Machine Learning and Distributed Systems.

Throughout his career, Sreedhar has been involved in every facet of company development. He has taken multiple features from concept to launch, contributed to product strategy, and co-founded a wellness forum to foster a positive company culture. He also played a crucial role in scaling the engineering team by conducting numerous technical interviews and mentoring prospective interviewers to attract top-tier talent during the company's rapid growth phase.

Driven by his passion for democratizing entrepreneurship, Sreedhar joined Gelila in 2024 as a Partner to grow The Journey and cultivate a vibrant community fueled by innovation and passion. Currently residing in New York, he enjoys exploring the city's diverse array of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.
